Atletico Madrid’s Korean jersey is up for auction.
Atletico, one of the top three teams in Spanish La Liga, traveled to South Korea this summer to participate in the ‘Coupang Play Series’ and ended their tour with a win over Team K League (2-3 loss) and a win over Manchester City (2-1 win). Diego Simeone’s squad traveled to Seoul, including captain Koke as well as key members such as Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann.
One thing that stood out was the jersey markings. Atletico wore jerseys with the players’ names in Korean. You couldn’t buy these jerseys, they were exclusive to the Korea tour.
The jerseys were put up for auction. The jersey auction site ‘Match One Shirt’ auctioned the Atletico jersey, which was worn by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) against Al Nasr, Bayern Munich against Manchester City, and AC Milan against Real Madrid in the Team K League.
The Korean jerseys are highly collectible for soccer fans around the world. Griezmann took first place. As of 8 p.m. on Feb. 2, it was worth 1,208 euros (about $1,718,800). Fans from the United States, France, Hong Kong, Brazil, Italy, Thailand, and South Korea reportedly placed bids.
In second and third place were Rodrigo de Paul and Cesar Aspilicueta. They were hotly sought after at 653 euros (about $929,100) and 621 euros (about $883,600). After the tour of South Korea, Atletico will spend its preseason in Mexico and the United States. Atletico will conclude its preseason with a two-game series against Real Sociedad at Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe, Mexico, on March 3 at 10 a.m. and against Sevilla at Oracle Park in California, USA, on March 6 at 11 a.m. Both games will be played in the United States. The team then returns to Spain to begin the 2023-24 season. The opener will be on Sept. 15 at 4:30 p.m. against Granada at Civitas Metropolitano.
