The Doosan Bears got a welcome break.
Doosan was scheduled to play a home game against the Samsung Lions at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Tuesday. The game was canceled three hours before kickoff due to the effects of Typhoon Kanun.
Doosan avoided an unfavorable starting matchup. Samsung was scheduled to start foreign ace David Buchanan. Buchanan was 8-6 with a 3.04 ERA in 20 games this season. In his most recent start, he pitched seven innings of three-run ball against LG Electronics. He also pitched six shutout innings against Doosan to earn the win.
On the other hand, Doosan’s starting pitcher was Kim Dong-ju, the “fifth starter”. He was 2-4 with a 3.51 ERA in 13 games this season. He’s stepped up his game this season and is throwing strong pitches, but he hasn’t pitched five innings in his last five games. Compared to the team’s ace foreign starter, his performance is a bit disappointing. For one thing, the rain will prevent Doosan from facing Buchanan.
Doosan, which begins a three-game series against the Hanwha Eagles in Daejeon on Nov. 11, announced that it will replace Buchanan with Brandon Waddell. Brandon, who came to the KBO as a replacement foreign player in June, had a 4-2 record with a 2.14 ERA in seven games. In his most recent start, he pitched seven scoreless innings against the KT Wiz on May 5. Han Seung-hyuk will start for Hanwha.
Brandon will take the mound for the first of a three-game series against Hanwha, followed by Kwak-Bin on the 12th. On the 13th, Choi Won-jun returns from his recent injury absence.
Kim Dong-joo will start against the KT Wiz in Jamsil on the 16th. He will be available as a relief pitcher on the 11th and 12th. 먹튀검증
Choi Seung-yong, the “temporary starter” who pitched against Samsung on the 8th, will pitch behind Choi Won-jun on the 13th.
That means Doosan will have all of its pitchers except Raul Alcantara for the three-game series against Hanwha.
The rain also gave Doosan a break when they needed it most. Kim Myung-shin and Hong Gun-hee were both unavailable for the game, as they pitched back-to-back games. Jung Chul-won also had a difficult time getting into the game.
For Doosan, who were unable to field most of their must-win card, the early cancellation of the game allowed them to quickly travel to Daejeon to prepare for the game.
