The Samsung Lions completed a three-game weekend sweep.
Samsung won 8-6 against the Kiwoom Heroes in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on Sunday. The team won its second straight game to clinch the series.
Starting pitcher Won Tae-in earned his sixth win of the season with seven innings of six-hit, five-strikeout ball. The bullpen of Lee Sang-min (0 innings, 3 runs), Hong Jung-woo (⅓ inning, 2 runs), Lee Seung-hyun (⅓ inning, 1 run), Kim Tae-hoon (⅓ inning, no runs), and Oh Seung-hwan (1 inning, no runs) struggled. At the plate, Koo Ja-rook and Oh Jae-il had three-hit games. Kim Sung-yoon, Kim Hyun-joon, Kang Min-ho, Jose Pirela, and Kim Ji-chan also had hits.
Kiwoom lost its second straight game. Starting pitcher Kim Sun-ki took the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts in five innings. At the plate, Kim Hye-seong had a three-hit game and Lee Joo-hyung hit his fourth home run of the season, but it was not enough in the loss.
Samsung got into scoring position in the bottom of the second inning when leadoff hitter Oh Jae-il doubled. Ryu Ji-hyuk laid down a sacrifice bunt to load the bases and Lee Jae-hyun followed with a sacrifice fly.
In the top of the second, Kim Hyun-jun led off with an infield single and was followed by an RBI single from Kang Min-ho. With runners on first and third, Jose Pirela singled and Oh Jae-il followed with an RBI single to make it 4-0.
Kiwoom had runners on first and third in the top of the fourth after back-to-back singles by Kim Hye-sung and Ronnie Dawson. However, Kim Hwijip flied out to shortstop and Lee Joo-hyung hit an infield single. 메이저사이트
Samsung scored a run in the bottom of the fifth on a double by Koo and an RBI single by Pirela. In the sixth, Ryu Ji-hyuk walked, stole second, Lee Jae-hyun singled, Kim Ji-chan singled, Kim Sung-yoon singled, Kim Hyun-joon reached on an error and scored, and Koo Ja-uk singled to extend the lead to 8-0.
Kiwoom responded in the top of the eighth. Leadoff hitter Kim Xiang led off the inning with a single, and Song Sung-moon singled, Kim Hye-sung singled, Kim Hui-jip singled, Lee Ju-hyung tripled, Lim Byung-wook singled, Kim Soo-hwan singled, and Kim Xiang singled to score six runs and cut the deficit to 6-8. But they couldn’t get any closer.
