There’s a monster in Man City, and it’s not Hollande

Rodri is the best midfielder in the world right now.

OPTA, a soccer statistics company, today released the top 10 most involved players in attacking tasks in the Premier League (PL) for the 2023-24 season.

There are three ways to evaluate offensive involvement. Shots taken, chances created, and involvement in the buildup to the shot. Surprisingly, defensive midfielder Rodri topped the list. Rodri dominated the metrics with 13 shots, 5 chances created, and 39 buildup involvement that led to a shot.

City are currently without Kevin De Bruyne due to a hamstring injury, which has increased the pressure on Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, and others to get involved in the offense. Normally, the absence of a team’s ace would leave a gaping hole, but with Rodriguez, City have nothing to worry about.

Since the 2022-23 season, Rodriguez has been sensational, leading City to the PL, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League (UCL) titles. Elling Holland, Ruben Dias, and Rodriguez were the three main players behind City’s treble. 메이저사이트

Already considered one of the best midfielders in the world, he’s only gotten better this season. This season, he’s been more of a defensive midfielder, but he’s also gotten more involved in the attack.

He already has three goals and two assists in eight games this season. That’s a pretty impressive tally for any striker. Rodríguez has increased his involvement in the offense while simultaneously raising his game to a higher level. Rodriguez started to open his eyes to the offense in 2021-22, and in 2022-23, he scored several crucial goals to save City.

Second on the list was Brighton’s key man Pascal Gross, who had 10 shots, 12 chances created, and 21 involvements in the buildup to a shot, for a total of 43. That’s a whopping 13 times more than Rodri. The rest of the top players were similar. Phil Foden, in 10th place, was not far behind Gross with 35 offensive involvements.
